It would seem that Megan Tambio of CBR is pretty impressed with the level of style and innovation that this cosplayer has come up with, and to be honest you can’t really blame her since this mask is pure awesome. When comic book lovers get to creating their own costumes for one reason or another it’s usually impressive to see what some people come up with, but every now and then a shout out is needed to some of them that get truly creative and find ways to up the ante just a bit with their ideas. This one in particular is great since it hearkens nicely to the current MCU Spider-Man in that the eyes actually move thanks to a mechanism that’s worked by the wearer’s jaw. It’s a little obvious when the action is performed but at the same time it’s also quite amazing since the eyes move just as you would expect in the movie. The only different might be that there doesn’t seem to be much overall control when it comes to widening them all the way or narrowing them down as much as possible. That’s a small matter though since the idea is something that seems absolutely great since it’s not exactly something that everyone thinks about.

As Kayleena Pierce-Bohen of CBR shows there’s no shortage of people that have made it their choice to create a Spider-Man suit or have gone ahead and taken on one of his allies or villains over the years when it comes to costumes. After all the webcrawler is one of the more popular heroes of the bunch and his villains and closest allies are usually not too far behind when you happen to attend a convention. This kind of attention to detail and inventive spirit though is a big part of what keeps cosplay alive and well and people believing in the idea of superheroes and their importance to our culture. For decades now people have looked up to superheroes and followed them in a number of ways that borders on mania at times but is usually something to keep people inspired and to help keep the juices flowing when it comes to imagination. Thus far nothing has really changed when it comes to people loving comic books and their favorite heroes, but cosplay has certainly changed as people continue to take their costumes to new levels and have been seen to incorporate new ideas and ways of piecing their costumes together over the years. Some of the stuff that people do is absolutely insane when you think of how much time and effort it takes, but the end result is still something that you can’t help but stand in awe of since a lot of it tends to look like movie-grade equipment that usually ends up costing hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Many people that attend conventions tend to find a way to do this for only a fraction of the cost but spend a great amount of time assembling each piece before fitting them all together.

One can only imagine how long this mask had to take to craft since the mechanism that works the eyes along with the hardware that was needed for the action to be possible had to take a good deal of time and patience when it came to crafting them. After all apart from walking to the store or ordering things online at an insane price there’s no other way to do cosplay other than to make it yourself and take the utmost care with each part. That takes a lot of patience but speaks of a lot of pride when you really think of it since despite the view that some people have of comic books and the whole idea of conventions there is an art to all of this that those same people refuse to see or just don’t want to admit. It does ascribe to a fantasy world that’s not real and therefore isn’t really worth their time it seems, but to the people who grew up with these heroes and looked up to them for so long this kind of work is vindication that their time wasn’t wasted and that they are good at something that’s worthwhile.
Having been a comic nut in the past I can honestly say that this is nothing short of impressive and that it had to have taken a while. Giving a shout out to someone that puts their heart and soul into something like this is pretty easy since it speaks of dedication and innovation on a level that a lot of people who don’t understand it just don’t have. It’s a sure bet that taking this out to a convention would be met with a lot of approving stares and some very slack jaws when the eyes were seen to widen and narrow.
