As of October 13, 2018, FOX has reportedly cancelled Lethal Weapon after only three seasons, despite how FOX tried to expand the third season a little bit by only two episodes which were originally supposed to tie up loose ends and to provide the series with a finale. The final straw for FOX came when star Damon Wayan’s announced his departure from the series. However, this is not the end for Lethal Weapon since there are rumors from the showrunner of the series that this buddy-cop show is going to be around for longer, and a fourth season is possible – more or less. The future of this TV show is still a mystery and considering how a primary member of the cast has left, it is unknown what will happen, or if season 4 will ever appear.
Creator Matt Miller declared he wants to write and create a fourth season now the third season is over. Along with the fans of Lethal Weapon, Miller is worried about the future of the series, though he doesn’t expect there to be ten seasons, just a few. The co-showrunners Danny Strong and Matt Nix agree with the opinion of the creator of the show, suggesting Lethal Weapon deserves to have six seasons, but they will need to wait before the renewal becomes official. However, the optimistic attitude displayed by Matt Miller is a positive sign that Lethal Weapon season 4 will appear in the future.
Will Damon Wayan’s be back?
Damon Wayans suffers from diabetes, and the rigors of the series caused him a lot of pressure health wise. When he left the show and the news hit the fans in December 2018, he posted a video of himself declaring his exit. He had problems working on a show where he would need to work 18-hours per day.
Despite that, Miller wants Damon to return to his role as Roger Martaugh, who is the lead in Lethal Weapon if the show is renewed for a fourth season. The showrunners have promised to make life a little easier for Wayans should he return to his role now they have learned of Wayans diabetes. If Damon Wayans does decide not to return, then its possible for his character to be recast. However, this will be detrimental to the running of the show and may cause fans to leave because of the change. It has happened before in other successful and well-enjoyed TV shows when an actor replaces someone well known. However, time will tell whether Damon Wayans will return or not as his character of Roger Martaugh.
Clay Crawford
Actor Clay Crawford who played Martin Riggs was dismissed from the show by FOX, who dismissed him due to complaints of the actor on the sets. It is unlikely if Lethal Weapon season 4 arrives he will be in it. The character of Martin Riggs was killed off allowing another character to replace him. In order to ensure the show continued, FOX brought in the character of Wesley Cole, played by Sean Williams Scott, and he was cast as the co-star so it is unlikely Clay Crawford will return.
Plot expectations of Lethal Weapon Season 4
After the end of the last season, its likely that if a fourth season is commissioned, there will be a completely different turn for the series. There is talk on Twitter that Cole’s relationship with Erica Malick, played by Nishi Munshi, is not a perfect one, so if the season is released there will be interest in seeing how this will turn out, especially since there is talk of him going back to his ex-girlfriend, Natalie Flynn, who is played by Maggie Lawson.
If true, then it will open up many other possible dynamics for the episodes.
However, if Lethal Weapon season 4 does happen, the relationships of Wesley Cole will be difficult for him since there will be problems for his personal relationships, though time will tell what those problems will be. There is also the chance Damon Wayans will simply refuse to continue with the series, so the future of the show is questionable.
If Lethal Weapon season 4 DOES come, it will probably be coming in a period of a September, since the debut of the show, the next seasons were both released in the September of different years, so it is likely the fourth will follow the same pattern. Since the fans had expected it to premiere in either 2018 or 2019, it is likely it will premiere in 2019.

Had they fired Winey Wayans instead of Crawford the show would have still been strong.Wayans character wasnt going to live long with or without Crawfords strong character so why not make the right choice.No.Keep a whiner on set ruining the whole show.I never watched a season 3 episode but feel sorry for Scott.Hes great.Would have been a great show with him and Crawford.Season 4? There are a lot of all of you out there. And get Shaq off every commercial I see!! I wont buy/do business with any of them just because they waste the money for him to speak.Like listening to a punch-drunk fighter. And the only reason hes even famous is his size, not his ability to play anything.Clear the trash from commercials and drop the price of your products. And no charity should pay a star to speak.Wounded Warrior is the worst.Highest loss of money in because of highest operating costs. This means you get the least to troops who may need it by donating to them.Find a better run charity.Thats my rant!!
