It’s interesting how things roll downhill when someone needs to take the fall, but Michael Cohen can’t exactly cry foul and blame everyone else without taking on some of the blame. Like it or not, and no matter if his career would have taken a nosedive, he could have always refused to do what he did and face the consequences. But the right thing to do doesn’t always present itself at the most opportune time and this is kind of a good example. That being said you simply know that a Lifetime movie is going to be produced at some point and he might very well be one of the main characters, or at least a supporting character, that shows up and needs someone that can play his role with a convincing act that won’t vilify or redeem him, but give an honest accounting of what happened in the last year or so.
Here are a few men that could possibly play Michael Cohen.
5. David Strathairn
David might be getting a bit old but he still has a lot of talent when it comes to portraying a character. He’s been some of the most vile characters on screen and also had the honor of playing some of the most memorable, but the one thing you can count on is that he gets fully into the role and doesn’t skimp when it comes to getting the job done. As an award-winning actor he’s proven his worth and were he to be selected it’s fair to say that he would give a great accounting of what it means to be someone like Cohen. Whether he’d be called upon to portray him as a good or bad person though would make a lot of difference in how the role was pulled off.
4. Eric Bogosian
Eric is another guy that’s kind of getting on in years but he’s still got the kind of acting talent that can make him stand out as someone that might be worth the effort to recruit for a part like this. His TV appearances have been a little more forceful and memorable than some of his big screen appearances but he’s been seen to be equally good at both and is also the kind of guy that can fill a pair of shoes without much effort. His no-nonsense demeanor, coupled with the fact that he can turn friendly in one moment and ice cold in the next, make him a very good prospect for such a role and someone that should be considered.
3. Alfred Molina
If you’ve noticed throughout his career the one issue that might need to be taken on is that Molina has a very long face but it’s also a very full face, meaning he might be a good stand-in but he wouldn’t be perfect. He would be the kind of guy you might choose if you really needed someone and couldn’t find anyone willing or ready to take on the role, but he’d be one of those picks you’d want close at hand at all times since he is a great actor and knows how to take on a challenge. He’s done some very good work in the past and has proven his worth to many people but once again it might be that he’d be the standby and not quite the first pick.
2. Nicolas Cage
It almost feels like it’s time for a comeback for Nic Cage since he’s the kind of guy that’s highly entertaining but he’s also the kind of guy that goes off the rails now and again. He’s been working steadily for years but a lot of his stuff has gone straight to DVD or to Netflix in this era since it hasn’t been deemed worthy of the big screen. But if anything, Cage is getting better as he gets older since he hasn’t fully calmed down but he has matured enough that he can actually bring himself to produce the kind of role that is necessary for a given film and can be convincing to those watching.
1. Hugh Laurie
Hugh is just a great actor, it has to be said. He has the long face, the gray hair isn’t a problem, and if you think he can’t rock an American accent then you obviously haven’t watched House at all in your life. He’s got the kind of acting chops that allow him to do just about anything he wants since he’s taken on roles that don’t seem made for him and they’ve worked without fail. So he’s been in a few movies that went nowhere, that’s more of a rite of passage to be honest than anything for many actors. Putting him in the lead for this position just makes sense considering that he’d be the one that could probably get it done without much difficulty, if any.
As I’ve said in other articles, I’d love to hear anyone else’s suggestion when it comes to matters such as this.
