She is the current longest-running actor on the show with a grand total of 45 years on the show. She’s not taken much time off, she’s not left and come back. She’s not someone who comes and goes throughout the years. She’s someone who rolled up in 1973 to play the role of Maggie Horton, and she’s been around since. Suzanne Rogers is a Days icon. She’s the longest running Salem resident to date, and she’s someone we all want to know more about. She’s clearly got a strong and amazing work ethic, but what else do we need to know about this redheaded beauty?

1. Suzanne Rogers Is Not Her Real Name

Suzanne Rogers is really Suzanne Cecelia Crumpler. She was born on July 9, 1943 in Midland, Maryland. She did not always live there, but she grew up in the Maryland and Virginia areas. She was inspired to taken on a career in the entertainment industry by the lovely Ginger Rogers, and that’s where her stage name came from.

2. Her First Job Was Awesome

Her first job in the entertainment industry was as a Radio City Music Hall as one of the dancers. She was the youngest girl to ever get a job and take the stage there. She still holds that record to this day.

3. She’s Been Dancing Her Entire Life

When she was only a toddler of 2, she decided she would dance. She loved it then, she took it up, and she’s been dancing her entire life. She knew she was going to do something on stage, on television, or in the movies, and that’s why she kept dancing.

4. She Left for NYC at 17

She wasn’t even a legal adult when she left her hometown and moved to New York City. She was god enough on stage to get a job dancing at Radio City Music Hall almost right away, which has been such a blessing and a dream come true for her. She’s a beautiful dancer, and she made history.

5. She Was on Broadway

She did a great job of dancing, and that led to roles on Broadway. She had not one, but many stage appearances on Broadway, which is not something many people can say for themselves. They have to consider that as a shining example of just how good she is at what she does.

6. She Moved To California in 1973

When she was 30, she decided to go to California for the first time. She was ready to take on another role as an actress, and she began taking more lessons. She as cast as Maggie almost immediately after moving to the west Coast.

7. She Has A Rare Health Condition

It was almost 11 years after she moved to California, when she was in her early 40s, that she was diagnosed with a very rare health issue. It’s called myasthenia gravis. It causes her facial muscles to stop working correctly, and her medication changed the entire look of her face and her disease grew worse as a result.

8. Her Disease Affected Her Character

She had to leave the show for a year while she recovered from her illness. When she was finally ready to come back, she didn’t look the same. She convinced writers to write her characters illness into the show, and they did. It was something she was very proud to represent to help other men and women with the same issues.

9. She’s In Remission

Since 1995, she been in remission. While this means she’s not showing any signs of her illness right now, there is always a small chance she could in the future. She’s been very fortunate for more than 23 years now, and she’s doing well.

10. She’s Been Married Once

Suzanne Rogers is not the marrying type. She got married one time in 1980 and she and her husband split in 1982. She didn’t marry again. She has no children, and she has no reason to want to get married right now. She might not agree in the future, but for now she’s single.
