Whatever Happened to the Cast of Devious Maids?

Devious Maids was picked up by Lifetime and is pretty much about the lives of a group of maids that work for some of the most influential people in Beverly Hills. The things they do for these people are pretty standard but being that they clean their entire houses they are made privy to a lot of secrets that eventually become kind of hush hush as they begin to realize the truth behind the lives of the wealthy and well-to-do within the neighborhood. As you can probably imagine the characters begin to think about working this to their advantage and finding ways to get a little piece of the wealth but things tend to go awry since the wealthy don’t stay that way by being foolish with their secrets or their money. The show lasted for four seasons and ended on a notable cliffhanger, but even a petition wasn’t enough to bring it back.

So let’s see what happened to the cast.

Susan Lucci

Honestly this show seems like a three-year speed bump on Lucci’s record that didn’t add so much to her career as it did kind of allow her to stretch out and perform another role in a long list of accomplishments that now includes a voice role on the next Wreck It Ralph movie. Quite honestly she’s had a nice long career before the show and it’s possible that it will continue on after it.

Judy Reyes

A lot of folks will likely remember Judy as Carla from Scrubs since she held onto the role for so long and was one of the most beloved characters there. But since then and since Devious Maids she’s been plenty busy, taking on roles for other shows that have made her popularity stabilize if not increase since her glory days do seem as though they’re either behind or yet to come again. In fact she did manage to get a role in the show Claws which she holds to this day.

Ana Ortiz

Ana has been extremely busy since Devious Maids and has even taken on a voice role in a popular kids’ cartoon titled Elena of Avalor. She’s been keeping herself relevant by taking on various roles that will no doubt help her career to keep moving forward and as another voice role she’s even going to be joining one of her costars in the next Wreck It Ralph. Needless to say she’s been keeping herself from feeling the pinch after Maids went off the air.

Rosalyn Sanchez

To be honest if just a little brutal Rosalyn’s career was going a lot smoother before Devious Maids than after as she’d built up quite a following and was one of the more desired actresses on the scene. After the show however she’s still been present in the business but doesn’t seem to be raking in the roles quite as much. It could be that she’s been slowing down a bit to take some time to herself or it could be that she’s just waiting for the right parts to come along.

Dania Ramirez

Following Devious Maids she got to play the part of Cinderella on Once Upon A Time, which is usually no small role and is something worthwhile since it happens to play along with the main story at least part of the time. She’s been boots on the ground so to speak since the show ended and hasn’t really been letting up as far as it goes with her film and TV career.

It’s amazing when you think about it how many shows get made, then developed, and then cut before ever reaching the public. The hype that a lot of shows gets doesn’t seem to be even half enough to get noticed but those that get all the hype don’t often end up lasting for very long. You could say that Devious Maids is one of those that had a decent run even if four seasons isn’t all that long. But then again one season is even shorter and no seasons after the pilot’s been reviewed is even shorter. That’s a lot of time and effort for absolutely nothing to come of it, but such things happen all the time in the business. So honestly, Devious Maids had a decent run and was able to bring in a host of characters, both main and supporting, that were memorable enough that people kept watching for those four seasons and actually tried to petition for a fifth.

If the money and the interest isn’t there however then there’s not a lot that fans can do to keep their favorite shows alive. At the end of the fourth season there were no other options with the cast and it was simply time to move on. At the very least each cast member found something to move on to.
