A lot of people like a lot of different types of stories and Garage Sale Mystery is one of those that might be for people that have a lot of time on their hands and might still be Lori Loughlin fans or were turned on to her acting by this series. In any case it’s something that’s not exactly for everyone since it doesn’t offer a little bit of everything, but it is something pleasing enough that can be enjoyed by those that like a good mystery. Lori plays the main character that goes about solving crimes with her detective friend and using clues found at the crime scenes to deduce just what happened and why. As movies go this series isn’t the worst but once again it’s something for those that have the time and the desire to sit down and watch it, as the series is something that people might like to watch as they try to sort out the mystery on their own before the resolution comes.
Here are a few things you might not have known about the series.
10. It stars Lori Loughlin
This should have been a no-brainer after the intro but Lori has been working on these at the same time that she was still starring in Fuller House, so needless to say she’s been kind of busy for the last several years. It is great that she found another gig to move on to however.
9. It’s on the Hallmark channel.
With this in mind you can easily deduce that it’s not going to have a lot of hard-hitting action and possibly controversial behavior and images, as the Hallmark channel is still very family-friendly and doesn’t really get into the whole idea of blood, action, and language that other channels employ.
8. It’s a detective story.
A lot of people like the detective stories that pop up on TV whether they’re movies or regular shows. In fact despite the unsuccessful run of some that have come and gone there are still plenty to choose from, like this one.
7. It was supposed to be one movie but the producers decided to make a series of them.
It seems that maybe the first movie did so well that the producers believed they could keep going and make it just as good. So far things have been going okay and it seems as though enough people have come to like the stories that it’s gained a healthy following.
6. Loughlin plays the owner of an antique shop.
So to be honest she’s not a detective but she has a very keen eye for details that does help out occasionally and can be used to great effect. This is something that wouldn’t be taken into great account in the real world but hey, it’s a movie, it’s allowed.
5. A lot of the crimes coincide with a garage sale being held beforehand.
Hence the reason for the name. It’s kind of an odd premise for a movie but there have been a lot stranger in the history of movies and it does open up a lot of story ideas that could keep the series going.
4. The movies have had several writers.
If it had been one movie a pair or trio of writers might have been enough, but given that it’s had so many in the series so far it definitely needs a fresh perspective every now and again. That way it doesn’t get stale and, if it’s done well, the series can remain entertaining and engaging.
3. A lot of the filming has been done in Vancouver, B.C.
To be honest this is quite the picturesque spot to be when filming since there are plenty of places one can go for a good shot and there are a lot of very areas that offer a great deal of beautiful scenery.
2. They’ve gone up to 12 movies at this point.
This kind of proves that they’ve made this into a popular series since there are a lot of movies on TV and in Hollywood that haven’t managed to make it to even half this number without fizzling out somehow. People have obviously been liking what they’ve been seeing.
1. They’ve kept the same cast for the most part.
Keeping the same cast helps with continuity as well as keeping the fans happy, and on top of that it shows that the cast is more or less completely comfortable with one another. That can help to make a movie series far more cohesive and therefore make the story that more compelling. In some ways a cast that stays together this long becomes a kind of family that learns how to anticipate one another.
If all you want is action then this is not the series for you, but if you enjoy a good mystery and a cast that makes it look entertaining then you might want to tune in.
