It sounds like kind of an odd name for a Western series but Strange Empire is a series about three women that have lost their men and are trying their best to survive. The series takes place along the Alberta/Montana border and is about the need to do whatever it takes to make sure that they see one day after the next. Eventually the series was picked up in the USA and given a longer title, Strange Empire: Rise of the Women. To be honest that sounds a little condescending, as though the show needed something to really describe what it was about or perhaps give it a more ominous sound than it already had. Maybe that’s part of why people around the world don’t like America all that much, we tend to give out ridiculous titles to shows that really don’t need them, among other things.
So what happened to the cast of the show?
Matreya Scarrwener – Robin
It’s uncertain what Matreya has gone on to since this show but she has managed to appear in other productions throughout her career thus far and has even had the chance to try her hand as a casting director. At one point she even showed up in the program Once Upon A Time, though it’s fair to say that she might not have stayed there too long.
Michelle Creber – Kelly
Michelle Creber has a lot going for her since she’s also a dancer and a singer so it’s fair to say that she probably won’t run out of options when it comes to her career for some time. When it comes to acting she was on the stage with her parents when she was just a year old so she’s been around show business pretty much all of her life and it shows since she is quite good at what she does. There’s little doubt that she’ll keep finding gigs that will keep her career going.
Aaron Poole -Captain John Slotter
Aaron Poole has been around and he’s been seen in the role of executive producer so honestly he knows what he’s doing and after Strange Empire he’s kept busy enough to keep himself going and to keep his career moving forward. His list of credits include a lot of movies that people likely don’t know quite as well but all the same he’s managed to wow enough people with his talents that he should be doing just fine for some time to come.
Melissa Farman – Dr. Rebecca Blithely
Melissa’s career has been rooted in TV for the most part and it doesn’t seem like she’s made the jump yet to the big screen but it also seems like she doesn’t really need to since she’s been receiving work on a pretty continual basis thus far. She’s continued to act and is still managing to star and guest star in many shows so it really seems as though the cancellation of the show hasn’t bothered her or any of the other actors.
Tattiawna Jones – Isabelle Slotter
Tattiawna has been making a good account of herself since the show and she’s had a great career to this point as well. She’s been present in some well known movies even if a couple were flops and has showed up in a few TV programs that people really liked so it seems as though her career is for the most part on an even keel when it comes to how she’s done. Right now she’s still working and was lucky enough to land a role on The Handmaid’s Tale.
Cara Gee – Kat Loving
Cara has been on several shows, in a couple of films, and has been featured on a web series on YouTube. She’s kept her career moving forward so far by joining the cast of The Expanse, where she’s become a recurring character. So far things seem to be going pretty well for her since having a job where people love to watch you is miles above having no job at all.
Strange Empire managed to get canceled after one season, presumably since there wasn’t enough interest. The idea of women on the frontier defending themselves and showing that they’re just as strong might not be something that a lot of people want to watch but it could be made into something inspirational if the right director was interested and got a hold of it. Programs like tend to fizzle out the moment they hit American TV unless someone does something to pep it up a bit. But there’s always that chance that it’s going to become too much and that the audience is going to turn away thinking they’ve seen it before and that it’s been done better elsewhere. That’s the only trouble with taking over something that was began by someone else, things get changed in a way that tend to make the show go off the rails.
