Colin Furze Builds An Alexa Voice-Activated Flamethrower

Colin Furze has done it again. The British garage inventor keeps on coming up with the coolest and least safe inventions; we didn’t think he could ever out-invent himself. That is until he makes a voice-activated flamethrower. That’s right. It’s also for absolutely no other reason than the fact that he is Colin Furze and he absolutely can. This video shows Furze building the flame-chucking gadget from scratch, Furze-style of course–with all his bits of comic and crazy.

To get started on the gadget, Furze had to ironically obtain an empty fire extinguisher canister to be used as a gas chamber. He then built and connected a gas pipe onto the chamber, which will lead to a pilot light system. Furze built this complicated system completely from scratch as well–welding pieces; drilling, boring, and making various holes; and then connecting pieces together. He created a spark ignite, which he connected to a flame sensor. The last part consisted of him building the electrical bits that he put into a Furze-branded container. The gadget was manually ready to produce fire at that point.

Furze got started to testing the gadget. The first trial just produced gas with no fire, which meant that he had to air out the garage first before testing again because we all know what could happen in that scenario from at least one of his other videos. By the second trial, we saw that the fire is on. The fire extinguisher was producing fire at that point.

The next step is to add the computer. Software genius James Bruton steps up to the plate, soldered bits and chips to each other, and before we knew it, the software was done. They tested to see if the sensor worked–it did. They then tested to see if the code worked through wireless mobile activation–it did. The only thing left to be done was to test the voice activation. So the two brought the gadget outside. Their excitement was contagious. Furze yelled, “Give me fire!” The gadget clicked a few times before it blasted a breath of fire. Furze then yelled again, “Give me fire now!” And fire it surely gave. This video was surely impressive to say the least, but this voice-activated flamethrower is nothing short of groundbreaking.
