Here are Some Pixar Short Easter Eggs You Likely Missed

I’m starting to see why some folks aren’t too fond of Easter eggs thanks to Pixar, but I won’t bother condemning them since fans that are invested deeply into Pixar films probably like seeing them from time to time. The thing is that you’ve really got to pay close attention to where they’re placed and in some cases that makes you pay less attention to the movie. Some folks don’t mind going back and going over them frame by frame however, as this gives them great enjoyment for some odd reason. To each their own right? But if you’ve never seen the Pixar shorts that are mentioned in this clip then you might be missing out on a lot.

The idea with Easter eggs seems to be to make a person focus everywhere all at once or to forget the movie for the moment and focus intently on the more obscure and out of the way parts of the film instead. That seems really strange that filmmakers would want their fans to look away from the movie, but it also seems brilliant in a way since it makes them pay very close attention to every detail so that they don’t miss anything. Basically you have to watch the movie a couple of times at least in order to see everything since at the pace that an average movie moves you really can’t see every last little detail that the filmmakers put in.

Have you ever tried it? Sometimes it’s possible but other times the film is simply moving too fast and there’s no chance to track the whole screen with your eyes without getting a serious case of eye strain. Plus some would argue that there are hidden motives within this gimmick that have to do with making people spend more and more money so that they can find all these hidden Easter eggs and watching each and every movie so that they can feel more complete. Then comes the expectation of finding Easter eggs, which prompts people to stay loyal to Pixar by either buying or paying to watch each movie and short that comes out in the anticipation that they’ll find something else interesting in the next movie that may or may not have something to do with the film it’s in.

See how that works now? I won’t try to dampen the spirit of it anymore for those that like to do it, but quite honestly Easter eggs are, for those that don’t care to find them, a fun thing to notice now and then, or something to be ignored and thought of as a part of the scenery. It is kind of fun when you do happen to see the correlation, but up until that point the movie is usually much more engaging. Pixar and Marvel are two of the companies that seem keen on producing as many Easter eggs as possible so that you can think that you’re getting a treat by seeing a representation of something you’ve seen before. That’s about the long and short of it.
