Everyone remembers the story of Aaron Hernandez. He was a superstar, a professional on the football field, and had fans cheering his name vigorously for three seasons. Unfortunately, his fate took a sharp and twisted turn when his life was changed forever in 2013. Hernandez was arrested and charged for the homicide of semi-pro Odin Lloyd. This story tragically ended in 2017, and now, memoirs of Hernandez and untold stories are now going to be made into a feature film for audiences everywhere. We’re here to take you further into the story that is the trial of Aaron Hernandez, and how the story ended for all.
Initial Arrest
As we said before, in 2013, Aaron Hernandez was arrested for the murder of Odin Lloyd, who at the time was dating a sister of Hernandez’s fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins (we know, it’s complicated). With a search warrant, police investigated Hernandez’s home after the body was found just shy of a mile from it. Just eight days after the search and further questioning with Aaron, police arrested the football star, who would later be charged with first degree murder for the death of Odin Lloyd. 90 minutes after his arrest, the Patriots, who Hernandez played for, released him from the NFL team.
The Verdict Is In
Aaron Hernandez pleaded his case of not guilty in front of a grand jury in April of 2015. He was finally found guilty of the murder on April 15th, and was sentenced to life in prison without any chance of parole. He was also found guilty with five other firearm charges associated with the crime.
Untimely Ending
While serving his initially life sentence for the death of Odin Lloyd, Hernandez was also indicted for the double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, which occurred back in 2012. He was consequently acquitted of the double homicide in April of 2017, just two years after he was sentenced to his time in prison for the original crime. Then, merely five days after his acquittal, Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his cell in Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center. The death was ruled as a suicide by authorities. Hernandez was only 27 years old at the time of his death.
This truly is a sad story all around, and one that will intrigue audiences everywhere once again. The Mark Gordon Company (who has also produced films such as “Saving Private Ryan” and “Molly’s Game”) has acquired the film rights for the book, which is entitled “All American Murder: The Rise and Fall of Aaron Hernandez, the Superstar Whose Life Ended on Murderer’s Row”. The book was written by James Patterson and Alex Abramovich, along with Mike Harvkey, and although it has not published until the end of the month, it is getting great reviews. The book tells untold stories and other personal accounts about Aaron Hernandez and his short, 27-year story that ended much too early. There are, obviously, no dates in the works just yet for the feature film, but we are sure it is going to be an amazing film for audiences of all ages to see.
