Five TV Shows That Truly Disappointed in 2017

When it comes to talking about shows that disappointed us in 2017 let’s be clear on one thing, it doesn’t mean we absolutely hated the shows. It could mean that they didn’t get to the point that we wanted or did something that switched everything up in a way that we didn’t expect. The writers that go off of the books and the source material don’t always put in everything that we want and at times tend to go against popular opinion in order to keep the story going in some way. Unfortunately that can have a negative effect on the viewer and could even make them look elsewhere for their entertainment. So no, disappointment doesn’t necessarily mean that we hate the shows, but it could mean that we just didn’t expect the show to go the way it did.

5. The Walking Dead

If there’s one thing that fans have been disappointed by in this show it’s that the pace has slowed way, WAY down. In the initial seasons things weren’t always at the quickest pace but the show was so new that it didn’t matter. Those that had been wanting to see a TV adaptation of the comic book were given a treat. Now however the pacing of the show has slowed down so much that a person could step out of the room for a snack and a phone call and not miss that much.

4. Fear the Walking Dead

This show has really only taken off in fits and starts as long as it’s been on. There has yet to be a long, running string of successful episodes that deliver one thrill after another. It’s understandable since this is essentially the rise of the walkers on the west coast, but it seems to be happening at a snail’s pace as the world continually slips into a zombie wasteland.

3. Iron Fist

The comic was okay, but the show so far is about as exciting as watching paint dry on grass while it grows. Danny Rand in the comics is already this super-disciplined warrior that can compete with just about anyone that’s at his power-level or below. He can even take on people much stronger than him and hold his own. But in the show he’s a rich, whiny brat so far.

2. Powerless

This show was canceled before it could even go that far, though it had high hopes. It was more about the people that are there to support the superheroes in some way and are forced to go through the aftermath of what happens when heroes and villains fight. Nothing was ever really made concrete as to what they were supposed to be doing or why it was that important, but it didn’t matter since the show opened to abysmal ratings.

1. Inhumans

This show was kind of a surprise since in the comics the Inhumans are actually a very interesting group. It could be the way they were handled and how they were presented that led to their immediate downfall as a TV show. It was basically an eight-episode soap opera with heroes and villains.

A few of these we’ll see again, but we can hope that a couple will be retooled before they come back, if they do.
