Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be the follow-up to Jurassic World, which was a movie that managed to be successful beyond expectation. As a result, there are a lot of people looking forward to June 22 of 2018, which will be when the movie is released for interested individuals to see. With that said, seeing as how the release date isn’t that far off into the future, it should come as no surprise to learn that the marketing for the movie has started up, as shown by the recent release of the first trailer.
What Did the Trailer Tell Us about Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom?
The first trailer laid out the basic premise of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. In short, it has been years and years since Isla Nubar has been abandoned, meaning that its dinosaurian inhabitants have been left to their own devices. Since the closure, Claire Dearing has founded the Dinosaur Protection Group, which is moving to save the dinosaurs because of an imminent volcanic eruption on the island. For help, she has recruited Owen Grady, who will be searching for Blue in addition to helping to save the dinosaurs from being rendered extinct a second time by a natural disaster.
Given this premise, it is natural for the trailer to have featured the scenes of dinosaur action that are characteristic of the Jurassic Park franchise as well as scenes of both humans and dinosaurs running from the clouds of volcanic ash, which made for a rather heart-wrenching shot of various dinosaurs being caught at a cliff-edge as the ash was about to engulf them. However, what is interesting is that the director Colin Trevorrow has stated that the footage for the trailer is pulled from the first 57 minutes of the movie, meaning that the volcanic eruption is not the climax of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in spite of what the released information has to say about its content. Combined with some footage of what could be a second effort to rescue the dinosaurs for what one presumes will be much more nefarious purposes, it seems that there will be a second plotline running through Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, though further information will be needed to confirm this for sure.
What Might the Future of the Jurassic Park Franchise Look Like?
At the moment, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom seems interesting in that it will be stepping away from the concept of a dinosaur-filled park that has been central to the franchise so far. Given that the basic premise of the movie suggests that dinosaurs will be making their way onto the mainland one way or another, it seems possible that future movies will be examining the possibilities of humans and dinosaurs coexisting, which is both scary and fascinating at the same time. On the one hand, that would see the franchise venturing onto unfamiliar ground, which could produce less than spectacular results; on the other hand, said premise would mean new possibilities for new movies. With that said, that would be far into the future even if it came true, meaning that for the time being, it is best to focus on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which as stated, will be coming out on June 22 of 2018.
