The Top Five Tom Hanks Yelling Scenes in Movies

Back to the Yelling Game we go, and with one of our favorites, Tom Hanks! He’s definitely the purposeful yeller, the guy that will raise his voice for a reason and only a good reason since to do otherwise seems a little silly.  If he raises his voice it means that something has happened for good or ill and it’s worth shouting about a little bit. He won’t fly off the handle on just anyone, oh no, he’ll wait until the moment is right and it’s a good idea to open his mouth and let loose with a shout or yell that will carry more meaning than it might have had he simply started to shout for no good reason at all. Tom Hanks is the kind of guy that acts in the right time and place, he won’t just fly off the hook to appease the fans because he knows his mere presence appeases the fans.

You’ve got to admit that’s about right on the money.

5. Catch Me If You Can

He talks in pretty low tones throughout much of this movie, keeping his voice well-modulated in a way that paints him as a calm guy that might be on the verge of shouting at someone if things don’t go the way they should. And of course when Frank is around they hardly ever go that way so his voice might raise a few times just out of sheer frustration. I can’t say that I’d blame him.

4. Toy Story

Woody is kind of guy that’s in a good mood so long as things are going the way they should and everything in his little world is ordered as expected. Of course when a new toy comes in that takes away Andy’s affections he doesn’t like it, and he especially doesn’t like the fact that Buzz can’t seem to even entertain the fact that he’s just like the rest of them, a CHILD’S PLAYTHING!

3. Forrest Gump

This is one of those moments when you can’t help but grin even as Forrest is being a little churlish towards the guy that he pretty much beat the living hell out of the night before. Of course it doesn’t help that the love of his life is going off with the jerk and the jerk knows it. But give Forrest some credit, he digs in how he feels even though he’d probably like to cave the guys face in.

2. A League of Their Own

&t=50s

There’s no crying in baseball! That’s been a core concept for a while and it’s one that’s needed a major overhaul for a while too. At the very least Jimmy Dugan was kind of trying to give a pep talk that kind of went off the rails and didn’t hit the way it should have. But hey, by the final game he’d toned down and finally stopped yelling, though he looked like he was about to explode.

1. Castaway

It’s amazing how awesome the little things in life can be isn’t it? We don’t think anything about having heat, warmth, or fire in our cozy little homes. But when you need it and don’t have the means you’re used to being able to learn how to make fire is something worthy of note.

Tom Hanks, the purposeful yeller, I should coin that.
