Kristin Scott Thomas is an English actress who was born in Cornwall, England, on May 24, 1960. She began her career on the stage in 1983 and progressed to television in the following year when she played Nancy in the TV miniseries ‘Mistral’s Daughter’. Kristin Scott Thomas has lived in France since the age of 19. It was in France that she met her husband Francois Olivennes who is a French gynecologist. The couple had three children together who they raised in Paris; Hannah, Joseph, and George. Scott Thomas and Olivennes divorced in 2005. As she has lived in France for so long, she is fluent in French and this has led her to play roles in many French Films. She has even said in interviews that she identifies as both British and French equally.
2. She Has Won Awards
Throughout her career, Kristin Scott Thomas has won several awards. She won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’. She has been nominated for five Oliver Awards for Best Actress before winning one in 2008 for her role in ‘The Seagull’. She has also won an Academy Award for Best Actress for the 1996 film ‘The English Patient’. 4. Her Father Died When She Was a Child
Scott Thomas’ mother, Deborah Hurlbatt, was raised in Africa and Hong Kong. She was a drama student when she met Lieutenant Commander Simon Scott Thomas. The couple married and had Kristin and her sister. Sadly, when Kristin Scott Thomas was just four years of age, her father was tragically killed in a flying accident in 1964.

Kristin Scott Thomas’ sister is the actress Serena Scott Thomas. She is best-known for her role as Dr. Molly Warmflash in the 1999 film ‘The World is Not Enough. She has also had roles in ‘Hostage’, ‘All Souls’ and ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. She was married to lawyer Scott J. Tepper, with whom she has a daughter, between 1996 and 2004. She now lives with Vinnie Tortorich in Los Angeles.
