The Top Uses of Ramones Songs in Movies or TV

The Ramones were believed to be the instigators of punk rock sound long before anyone else. They formed in the early 1970’s and despite not earning the same kind of commercial success of other bands they’ve still managed to hang around for the last several decades to entertain the masses. Their music has hung around at least, the last of the Ramones passed away in 2014, and the band had already parted ways in 1996. But even after their disbanding their music continued to be a popular sound throughout many TV shows, movies, and was even embraced by one generation after the next. I can even recall the Ramones being heard at school dances on occasion.

Here are a few of the greatest uses of their music.

5. Accepted-Blitzkrieg Bop

This is a movie that’s not so much about being rejected as it is about being accepted for who you are and what you can bring to the world in your own unique away. Of course scamming a bunch of people into believing that you’re starting a real college is going to take some actual work but in the end things tend to work out and it might be that you’ve managed to create something special.

4. Idle Hands-I Wanna Be Sedated

So a stoner’s hand becomes possessed by a demonic spirit and goes on a killing rampage with him being none the wiser…. Yeah that’s about how a lot of people felt about this movie but the great part, aside from the soundtrack, is that it didn’t require a lot of thought and was kind of funny in a lot of spots so it was easy to watch and easy on the brain power.

3. The Simpsons-Beat On The Brat

I honestly had no idea that Principle Skinner had peanut allergies until watching this clip. But if you show one weakness to Bart Simpson it’s like teasing a shark with the smell of blood, he’ll take whatever he can get. Of course in Bart’s case he’s going to torment the person until he’s milked it as far as he can go, which is to say the limit of his own prankish nature. Is there one?

2. Shrek the Third-Do You Remember Rock and Roll Radio

There’s a few things you can count on any Shrek movie to provide. One is laughter and hilarity, another is that they’ll make reference to a fart joke or two now and again, and of course the third is that it’ll have an awesome soundtrack. Everything else after that is just gravy. There have been talks about making another one but I kind of hope they remain just that, talks.

1. SLC Punk!-Cretin Hop

Being a punk back in the 80’s meant a lot of things to a lot of people, but in the end it was deduced that it was a phase that a lot of people went through. The aging punks that are still around today are usually those you see panhandling on the street, or those that found out that life as a punk didn’t have much of a future attached to it. Eventually people have to grow up, no matter how much of a poser they must become.

The Ramones are still one of the most loved bands heard in movies.
