What We Learned from the Series Premiere of S.W.A.T.

It’s good news to fans of S.W.A.T as the show is now out. It has come with out a bang and those who have watched so far are leaving reviews and hoping the tempo set is retained. The show to say the least is interesting and does not give you difficulties staying to watch. It is basically a reboot of 70s classic franchise and is centered in some bit on addressing police brutality as well as the conduct of people in dealing with security authorities.

Actual overview of the show

For many viewers, the show had a very confusing start. After watching for the first few minutes, it offered lots of action and the fact they have retained the same characters is somewhat fulfilling. But as it progresses, you are left in a deeper hole where you will only have to guess the next direction it will take. It is more like a mystery and its theme so far has not been fully defined. Many hope the show will bring out a subject that is generally understood, but of course it’s still too early to take a position, so the best we can do is to wait for episodes that will follow.

One mistake noted so far is the fact that the show has attempted to compare officers who are expected to offer protection to the country. The message shared across might be tearing to some extent and portrays the police of maliciously enforcing action that is against the rights of some groups especially black communities, which might serve to paint the police force in bad light. One is made to get a feeling that it carries a lot from the original fiction show, and this is against expectation that S.W.A.T would have at least shed some light to reality and current happenings.

Quite entertaining, but unrealistic

For those who adore action and adventure, S.W.A.T will be one hell of a show to watch, but this is if you don’t mind the omission of realism. It is the show for you if your only concern is getting entertained regardless of how warped the representation of reality is. S.W.A.T has to some extent swayed from the reality and in the first half you will note numerous policy violations. You will notice uniformed officers who have beards, mistakes like pulling S.W.A.T cars up to the middle of shooting scenes, and worse is the lack of backup while closing off an area.

It is more centered on drama as opposed to reflecting the realty. There are mishaps in the application of police tactics, and this goes to show the directors of the show did not give much thought to making it appear as real as possible. It feels as if S.W.A.T was shot without the help of technical experts who would have at least pointed out the inconsistencies and errors. The production team needs to address such issues. However, we can give them some benefit of doubt since this is just a start. Our hope is episodes that will follow will have an improvement.
