According to Knight, his intention was to ensure Peaky Binders remained a wars family story with the gang gaining more wealth to become more powerful. The show was to end when the first World War II sirens rent the air across Birmingham. Knight stated that season five might be the last since the show has been commissioned for five, but if the writing will be strong and deserving of another season, the show will go beyond five.
Timeline can be daunting to the actors
The way Peaky Blinders is shot can be sometimes confusing. Even Murphy admits that they don’t follow a chronological setup while doing episodes. Sometimes the crew can do episode four in the morning while the finale comes in the afternoon. Don’t assume because the show appears organized it has been always a rosy road while filming the various episodes. It takes loads of work to complete one season. References to hell are deliberate
Com McCarthy, the director of season two of the show, explained that the flames used in the first episode were deliberate. The point of adding the effects was to create a reference to hell and this was achieved in a number of ways. One situation is where Tommy is pictured in a deep angle while a flame is seen in the background to show he is in a pit.
John Shelby and Michael Gray are real-life brothers
You may not have realized this, but John Shelby (Joe) and Gray (Finn Cole) are brothers in real life. Joe was given the script and he invited his brother to discuss it. At that time, Cole was in college and when he got the invitation to take part in auditions, he lacked the money to pay for the ticket. So, he taped an audition and forwarded it to the casting director. But this did not succeed as he had to keep nagging him for an audition until he was finally given a chance to try.
