Diane Lane has joined the slate of guest stars on the upcoming Amazon original series The Romanoffs. The show is created, written, directed and executive produced by Matthew Weiner (Mad Men). It is a one-hour contemporary anthology series set around the globe featuring separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family. Weiner is set to direct all episodes of the series. The show is set to debut on Prime Video next year.
Lane joins the company of recently announced Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Isabelle Huppert (Elle), Marthe Keller (Marathon Man), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), John Slattery (Mad Men), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Amanda Peet (Togetherness), Corey Stoll (House of Cards), Andrew Rannells (Girls), Mike Doyle (Odd Mom Out), JJ Feild (TURN: Washington’s Spies), Janet Montgomery (Salem), and Paul Reiser (Mad About You). She received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in the critically-acclaimed film Unfaithful while she received Emmy nominations for television film Cinema Verite and miniseries Lonesome Dove. She has also appeared in other films like Nights in Rodanthe, Hollywoodland, A Perfect Storm, Chaplin, Secretariat, Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Trumbo, and the upcoming Justice League.
The Romanoffs is also executive produced and written by Semi Chellas (Mad Men). Kriss Turner Towner (The Bernie Mac Show), Blake McCormick (Mad Men), and Kathy Ciric (Z: The Beginning of Everything) co-executive produce. The show was previously co-produced by The Weinstein Company but Amazon severed ties with them after the sexual harassment allegations surrounding Harvey Weinstein.
