Exclusive Sneak Peek at Nat Geo WILD’s “Wild Argentina: Mountains of Extremes”

In Nat Geo WILD’s special three-part event premiering this Friday Wild Argentina: Mountains of Extremes, animals battle to survive the elements — and each other — in the Andes, the rugged Eastern Coast and the country’s tropical north.  From the great peaks of the mountains to the parched desert and wetlands, animals fight against predators and hostile environments every day.  Now, discover Argentina like you’ve never seen it before and see what these animals and plants of the region go through as they struggle to survive.

In this first episode of the series, we see the Andes mountains as they divide South America along its length. Beneath their great peaks, the animals and plants are at the mercy of their every mood.  The Andes dictate a hard existence for every living creature, from icy summits to the barren and windswept edge of the Patagonian steppe.  Predators stalk the foothills and creepy crawlies lie low in the sandy steppe. Every animal here has a bloodthirsty drive to survive. This sneak-peek clip shows the arrival of a flamboyant seasonal visitor, the flamingo.  Thousands will descend on the dusty plateau which will be the stage for a spectacular dance to find a partner.  If the female is impressed, she will leave with the male and they will mate for life.

Wild Argentina: Mountains of Extremes, airs on Friday, October 13 at 10/9c on Nat Geo WILD.
