It’s true–Stitchers has been cancelled by Freeform after only 3 seasons. The sci-fi show that introduced us to the mind-boggling idea of “stitching” into dead people’s brains left us with a little bit of a puzzle to solve in season 3. We may never know the answer to the questions we were left with, but one thing’s for sure: we know that star actress Emma Ishta will forever be the first “stitcher” in the industry. We’re hoping Ishta gets another project soon because she was great in the show. While we wait for this to happen, here are 5 things you should know about Emma Ishta to bide your time.
1. She’s Australian.
Don’t worry. Ishta’s flawless American accent fooled us too. The young actress was actually born and raised completely from down under. She really could’ve fooled anybody with her role in Stitchers. We even looked for clips of her speaking in her native tongue to compare. It’s unbelievable how she can just switch from one accent to another.
2. She started modeling when she was only 13.
While it isn’t unusual for models to start their careers while they’re still in their teens, 13 years old is unusually young to begin. The 5 foot 10 inches actress and model has been working the fashion scene since she was basically a preteen still. She probably owes it all to her incredible height and looks. While she hasn’t modeled since she started acting, we wouldn’t put it beside Ishta to pick it up again at some point. The young mother could still pass for a teenager if you ask us.
3. She’s married to a playwright.
Ishta apparently likes to keep the family in the business. Ishta is married to talented NY playwright Daniel James McCabe. They even starred together in one of his plays, The Flood. Ishta also gained a stepdaughter with her marriage to McCabe, but since then, the couple also had a son together in 2016. We’re not sure if Ishta will star in another one of her husband’s play, but we wouldn’t mind it if she did.
4. She’s a huge Star Wars fan.
The model also happens to be a sci-fi geek. It’s no wonder that Ishta chose to play the lead role of Kirsten in Stitchers. Ishta admits that she’s a big fantasy and science fiction buff. However, that wasn’t the only reason why she took the job. Ishta also loved the fact that the lead was such a strong female character. She loves watching intelligent women on TV.
5. She’s an avid musician.
You can add music to the list of this woman’s many talents. Ishta is proficient with the violin having played it for about 15 years. She also plays the piano and sings. She even studied at the Queensland Conservatorium in Jazz Voice. If you weren’t impressed with her before, you should be now. Ishta says that music has been a part of her entire life. We’re wondering if that’ll be her next venture now that Stitchers is cancelled. We’ll find out soon enough.
