Sometimes you’ve got to wonder where cartoonists get their inspiration for their characters. I mean really when you start to look around and take note of the people they might have looked at and studied then you get an idea of just what they were thinking when they drew certain characters. Since most of us don’t know what the Simpsons animators were looking at we just have to take the time to look at random people and find those that most closely resemble the people in the cartoons. Sometimes the comparisons are just eerie.
Ned Flanders
I’m almost inclined to believe this was part of a costume contest but the chances are still good that this guy actually dresses like this. No offense, it’s just a funny coincidence, if it is.
Chief Wiggum
I get the feeling this guy was blowing out a breath and his lips were flapping when this picture was taken, otherwise you might think that his lip is really swollen and needs attention. But the big belly and outfit is another good indication.
Moe Syslak
Was there anyone crustier than Moe on the show that you know? Yes that was shameless but I had to do it. The comparison isn’t bad but I still think Moe’s uglier.
Rainier Wolfcastle
Seriously the guy’s name sounds like a beer. Up and at them! He couldn’t speak English to save himself and was a caricature of Arnold Schwarzenegger for some time on the show.
Groundskeeper Willie
With his clothes on you wouldn’t mistake Willie for anything but a crusty old janitor that had had his fill of his job and just wanted to quit. But when he took his shirt off you could have sworn he was ready for the Highland Games.
Milhouse Van Houten
Poor Milhouse. He was the lovable geek that just couldn’t do anything right and was almost always picked on by the bullies or his friend Bart.
Jimbo Jones
Jimbo was one of the primary bullies in the town of Springfield and didn’t care much about who he hurt or why. When he was confronted about anything though he usually proved to be a wuss.
Otto Mann
Otto was the resident rock and roller of Springfield and had the intelligence of a tree stump most times. But he was too cool to diss and showed a lot of spunk when he had to.
Dr. Nick
Hey everybody! One of the absolute LAST doctors you would ever want working on any part of your body, Dr. Nick was still a likable guy until it came time for surgery.
Homer Simpson
Patriarch of the Simpson family and all around bonehead. I’m not sure why Paul Giamatti would be such a good fit for his comparison but physically it can kind of be seen. At least Paul can’t suck donuts down by the truckload.
Mayor Quimby
If you ever need an example of a corrupt mayor for any reason look no further. This guy’s spine was about as strong as a piece of taffy on a warm day and his moral compass, wait, what moral compass?
Lisa Simpson
I actually used to like Lisa Simpson until this comparison. She’s still a good character but the development she did take on the show is something that some people might have been a little upset about. Oh well, it’s a cartoon.
Bloody Gums Murphy
There’s one big problem with this comparison. Murphy COULD SEE. Appearance-wise it’s not too bad really, but apart from that it’s not the closest.
Principal Seymour Skinner
This is pretty accurate. Skinner was one of the toughest mama’s boys in TV history. The guy could kick some major butt but would fold the instant his mother was around.
It’s pretty funny how close some of these comparisons were.
