Star Wars Rebels Season 4 Trailer: What Can We Expect?

Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will be starting up soon on October 16 of 2017. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that more and more information is coming out about the season, with the latest example being a trailer that serves as an excellent indicator of what we can happen. Since Season 4 will be the last season, it should come as no surprise to learn that the trailer suggests that a number of plotlines will be coming to a close in one way or another.

What Can We Expect from Season 4?

For starters, since the Rebellion has been an uphill fight from the start, it is not unreasonable for people to be concerned that some of the main cast members on Star Wars Rebels won’t be making it through Season 4. We know that both Hera and Chopper will be making it through the season because of their respective appearances in Rogue One, but otherwise, the fates of the others in the Star Wars setting remain unknown at this point in time.

First, it remains to be seen how Ezra will fare. We know that Season 4 will consist of 15 episodes in total. However, the first 4 episodes will be used to resolve some outstanding plotlines, while the remaining 11 episodes will be used for a single arc that will bring a conclusion to Ezra’s plotline. This can sound rather ominous, but it should be noted that what has been revealed so far can be interpreted as being nothing but a conclusion to this particular part of his life, leaving him free to show up in future stories in the Star Wars setting. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time that Luke had help in rebuilding the Jedi Order in the Star Wars setting, though it remains to be seen how much this particular part of the modern canon will resemble that of its predecessor.

Second, the trailer revealed that Kanan and Hera will be making progress in their personal relationship, as shown by some of the moments flashed through in the Season 4 trailer. Unfortunately, the writing is not the sort of thing that inspires optimism on Kanan’s final fate in Star Wars Rebels. It could be that he and Hera will be able to have a future together, but to be blunt, the whole thing seems like a setup for his tragic death.

Meanwhile, Sabine’s newfound position of leadership at the end of Season 3 means that viewers can expect a continuation of her efforts against the Empire. It remains to be seen how the events will affect the Mandalorians as a whole, but it is interesting to note that Bo-Katan Kryze from Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be making an appearance. Over among the Imperials, it is interesting to note that there are hints of internal conflict, with Grand Admiral Thrawn being a particular point of interest because of the suggestion that his personal goals are not the same as those of the Empire. Regardless, since Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels will be the final season, viewers can expect not just the conclusions to the plotlines that they have been hoping to see but also setups for future projects in the Star Wars setting. Something that should encourage them to tune it when it starts up on October 16.
