By this point, it is clear that Preacher has become something of a success. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that there have been signs that the people behind the TV show are preparing to film a third season, as shown by reports that the paperwork has been filed for permission for further filming at its current location in New Orleans. While an official announcement for the renewal of Preacher won’t come out soon because Season 2 is still being broadcast, this seems all but set in stone.
What Can Viewers Expect from Season 3 of Preacher?
Of course, it is still much too soon to know what will be featured on Season 3 of Preacher. After all, the official announcement is still some time in the future, meaning that other news won’t start coming out until some point following that. Furthermore, since Season 2 is still being broadcast, that makes it much more complicated to predict where the TV show will proceed from that point on.
With that said, it is important to remember that Preacher is based on a comic book series of the same name. As a result, while the TV show is not a perfect one-to-one match for its source material, it is close enough that its source material should be able to provide some fuel for speculation on its own.
For starters, while the TV show has focused to some extent on Jesse Custer’s background, there is more information waiting to be revealed. As a result, it seems probable that the TV show will spend some more time on who Jesse is as well as how he came to be. Furthermore, the events of the comic book series make it seem probable that at some point, Jesse will be forced to travel on his own, having been separated from both Tulip and Cassidy for a time. Suffice to say that said period would be the perfect time for a more in-depth exploration of Jesse’s character, though whether this will turn out to be the case or not remains to be seen.
On a semi-related note, it seems probable that the Saint of Killers will be receiving some more time in the spotlight as well at some point in the future. After all, he is an important character in the overall narrative of the source material, meaning that he will need to be expounded upon. Furthermore, since understanding his background is critical for understanding his character as well as his motivations, it seems possible that there could be some future footage explaining how he came by his current position instead of leaving him as just an invulnerable pursuer.
As for Herr Starr, well, suffice to say that he was a major antagonist in the comic book series. As a result, expect him to continue being a serious problem to the protagonists in the TV show, bringing more and more capabilities to the table as he amasses more and more power for himself. With that said, Herr Starr’s humiliation was a repeated theme in the comic book series, so it seems that will show up as well.
Regardless, it is still much too soon to speculate much about what Season 3 of Preacher will bring. However, people who are interested should continue paying attention to the latest news so that they can remain up-to-date.
