K.C. Undercover is a sitcom series aired on the Disney Channel. The series was created by Corinne Marshall and premiered on January 18, 2015. The show is about a teenage mathematics whizz kid called K.C. Cooper who is recruited by her parents, who happen to be undercover spies. Her brother Ernie also joins the team. The TV series is set in Washington D.C. and follows K.C. and her family as they undertake a new mission in each episode. Zendaya plays the lead role and other stars of the series include Veronica Dunne, Kamil McFadden, Trinitee Stokes, Kadeem Hardison and Tammy Townsend. These are the basics of the series, but here are five more things that you might not know about K.C. Undercover.
1. K.C. Undercover Was Not the Original Name
Originally, the producers planned to call this show ‘K.C. Spy’. However, they decided that the title wasn’t catchy enough to grab attention and didn’t really have a good ring to it. They then moved on to another title, ‘Super Awesome Katy’. This was the title given when it was announced in 2008 that the series had a pilot in pre-production. They finally opted to give the series the much better sounding title ‘K.C. Undercover’.
2. This is Zendaya’s Second Disney Show
Very few people can claim that they have appeared in two Disney Shows. In fact, she is only the fifth star ever who can boast about having two Disney shows. Zendaya previously appeared in ‘Shake It Up’ before she was offered her own show, ‘K.C. Undercover’. Bella Thorne appeared alongside Zendaya in ‘Shake It Up’ and she was also offered her own show by Disney. However, Throne declined this offer stating that she wanted to get away from Disney and pursue other ventures.
3. K.C. is Called Katrina (Katy) Charlotte
Ever wondered what the K.C stands for in K.C. Cooper? The character’s full name is Katrina (Katy) Charlotte. However, she is never called this in the show as everyone simply refers to her as K.C., including her parents and her brother. Some sites credit this characters full name as Katrina Charlotte Coretta Scott Cooper.
4. Zendaya is a Talented Dancer
You don’t get to see this skill in the TV series, but Zendaya who plays the lead role is a very talented dancer. IN fact, she once appeared in a television commercial for Sears as a backing dancer. Selena Gomez also appeared in this television commercial. Zendaya also appeared in Taylor Swift’s music video for her single ‘Bad Blood’.
5. Zendaya is a Producer for the Show
Zenday, whose real name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, is not just an actress in this TV series; she is also one of the producers. She took on the role of a producer from season three of the series. Veronica Dunne, Zendaya’co-star who plays Marisa, has said in interviews she thinks this is fantastic. According to Dunne, having Zendaya as one of the producers gives their generation a voice in the show. She says this is one of the reasons why K.C. Undercover stands out against other TV series.
