Five Upcoming Movies that Deserve Way More Hype

There are many things in life we wait for in general. For some of us, it could be the seasonal and limited edition coffee flavors at Starbucks, for others it could be Christmas, but for another smaller section of society (you know who you are!)it is all about checking and following the super amazing trailers of upcoming movies that we wait for with bated breath. And just for the record, that does not make you a loser! It goes without saying that there is no dearth of content and plots and artistic prowess in Hollywood in this day.

Here are a few movies that are not receiving the attention and uproar it deserves.

How To Talk To Girls At Parties

Close to the heels of the end of 2017 we can look forward to Nicole Kidman totally rocking her Sia look as she plays a punk Rocker “Queen Boadicea” who fights aliens posing as foreign” exchange students. The story is set in suburban London in the late 70s.

It seems like the studio A24 has been on a great run so far churning out stellar movies like Under The Skin, Ex Machina, Room and it promises nothing lesser with this one. The movie seems to be a cross between sucker punch and mad max in varying levels. This one has been in the pipeline for a few years and seems to have been forgotten along the way. The film is set to release late 2017.

The Mountain Between Us (2017)

Here is one which is a combination of action and drama that will thrill you to your bones! with promises of romance (come on guys, its Idris Elba and Kate Winslet we are talking about !). The movie will be released on 6 October 2017 by 20th Century Fox. This upcoming film is directed by Hany Abu-Assad.

After they find that their flight has been cancelled, two strangers, a surgeon and the other, a photo journalist find themselves on board a chartered plane. As things take a turn for the worse they find themselves stranded after the plane crashes. Together they must come together to form an alliance to survive the extreme weather conditions of a remote snow covered mountain. When they realize that there won’t be a rescue team sent out in search of them, they set out on a journey of a lifetime across very dangerous plains in the wilderness. This gritty tale of bare knuckled survival while pushing each other’s limits and kindling a connection, will be a grosser for sure. I can’t wait to watch it.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)

Yes they are doing it again, and I do sincerely hope that Mr. Williams( God rest his soul) does not turn in his grave. I remember watching Jumanji in 1995, and enjoying every minute of the chaotic crazy safari ride it was! This remake is more in with the times as it circles around four high schoolers , while cleaning out a school’s basement, discover an old video game console and get sucked into the jungle theme of the game.

This is more like a less gruesome version of the Hunger Games, as the punch line is that you don’t play the game, you survive it! And all of this is in 3D! The film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Nick Jonas, so we are definitely in for more than a few laughs. I will be interested to see how these guys go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives. This film looks like it is all set to be a Christmas release. Let’s add it to our holiday plans guys!

Mary Poppins Returns (2018)

This is a moment I have been waiting for. And I must say , it’s about time someone re-did this great golden oldie. And there can never be enough hype for this one.  The new movie is a sequel to the first Mary Poppins from 1964 and is set during the Great Depression in London. Jane and Michael Banks are now adults. They are visited by the ever mysterious Mary Poppins following a tragedy. The rest is about how she , in her true Mary Poppins-ish style sets out to help the family come together and pick up the shattered pieces and in her own unique way helps them bring back the joy they had forgotten in their lives.

The movie is set to release for a Christmas in 2018, which seems like a long way off, but do not fret! Hold onto your flying umbrellas! With the incredible star line up this sequel boasts of, this will definitely be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ride. So, it will be worth the wait.

Where Is Anne Frank?

With the legacy and history that Director Ari Folman is known for that involves being born to survivors of Auschwitz ,and having experienced real time war in Lebanon in his early teens .One would consider him a credible point of authority when he sets out to make an animated Anne Frank movie. There seems to be a lot more added on to the movie that the book does not mention but I resolve to wait and watch with an open mind. I must admit, I have my finger on the pulse for this one.

Even though we don’t have a clear date of release yet, the general premise of the movie is around Kitty (the imaginary friend whom Anne dedicated her diary to) as she wakes up in Amsterdam set in the present day. She goes in search of her missing friend, whom she believes is still alive, in today’s Europe we are taken on her journey of realization of the world in its modernity and advancements, she is also comes to a reckoning of Ann’s eternal legacy.
