If I had to choose one of the biggest glaring omissions in the Academy Awards it would be stunts. You’re telling me that teams who do make up get Oscars and people who risk their lives on set every single day doing the stunts they perform don’t? And it’s not like this isn’t an issue already. Stunt performers have been fighting for inclusion into the Oscars for years now. Until we see some changes and these risk takers get the respect they deserve, for now you can look to the Taurus World Stunt Awards for the recognition of these brave and talented people.
The Taurus World Stunt Awards is a yearly award ceremony held midyear that honors stunt performers in movies. It is held each year in Los Angeles. The first awards were given out in 2001. However the deciding committee has been around since the year 2000. The awards were created by Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder of Red Bull.
