There Could Be Led Zeppelin Reunion Coming This Year

Sometimes people forget that Led Zeppelin didn’t necessarily break up because of any ill will.  In 1980 legendary drummer John Bonham died after choking on his own vomit after a night of drinking that saw him have “40 shots of Vodka in 12 hours.”  Bonham was only 32 years old.  Shortly after his death the band issued a statement:

We wish it to be known, that the loss of our dear friend and the deep respect we have for his family, together with the deep sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were.

Since 1980 the remaining three band members, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones have remained in the music industry and have been quite successful.   Here and there the three have reunited on stage but it’s literally been a decade since a full reunion has taken place.   But rumors are swirling right now that a reunion could happen this year after a very cryptic photo was posted to Robert Plant’s website.   The photo is below:

Many speculate that the three could get back together with John Bonham’s son (also a drummer) at the Desert Trip Festival 2017 which is seeing some of the biggest Rock N’ Roll names in history.  Last year, Desert Trip offered fans a three day, two-weekend music festival in Indio, California highlighted by legendary acts. The festival grossed over $160 million with classic rock acts like The Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Bob Dylan, The Who and Neil Young.

And remember that copyright lawsuit for Stairway to Heaven?  Zeppelin may very well want to put rumors to bed this this is their song and they’re going to perform the hell out of it.  Hopes are high right now and it would be incredible if these guys gave it another go.

Here’s their last live performance together.
