If you asked people what their favorite halftime performances are in the history of the Super Bowl you will undoubtedly hear them say “Prince during Super Bowl XLI’s halftime show” as one of their answers. His performance that day will go down in history as one of the best and clearly most memorable shows ever, Super Bowl or any event for that matter. But there’s something I found out today that makes this show even more legendary.
First of all I completely forgot that Prince actually performed “Purple Rain” during a downpour. As if that wasn’t serendipitous enough, I found out this interesting pieces of information. The morning of Super Bowl XLI, Don Mischer asked Prince if he would be OK to perform in the rain. Prince responded simply, “Can you make it rain harder”?
You can’t make this stuff up. Seriously, how amazing is that? One of the best performers in the history of any performer, hands down. You can check out the entire story of Prince and his Super Bowl halftime show in the video below. It goes into more detail than I just gave but I just had to share that quote with all of you.
