I don’t think I speak for only myself when I say “it’s about time.” While Bill O’Reilly may have informed his viewers that he was going on “vacation” amidst all of these sexual harassment claims, it turns out his vacation is likely going to become permanent. Speculation was running yesterday that Rupert Murdoch was going to ax the Fox News anchor and this morning that speculation turned out to be just about 100% true. According to Uproxx
The Wall Street Journal (also owned by Rupert Murdoch) has relayed that Fox is preparing to cut the cord: “A final decision on Mr. O’Reilly’s fate could come as early as the next several days.” The paper also quotes the host’s attorney, Marc E. Kasowitz, who calls this a leftist conspiracy against his client:
“Bill O’Reilly has been subjected to a brutal campaign of character assassination that is unprecedented in post-McCarthyist America. This law firm has uncovered evidence that the smear campaign is being orchestrated by far-left organizations bent on destroying O’Reilly for political and financial reasons. That evidence will be put forth shortly, and it is irrefutable.”
I’ve been saying this since day one of the harassment claims. Give me a break. O’Reilly isn’t a good guy, period. There’s not one nice and redeeming quality about him. He’s cocky, arrogant, elitist and a snob. Does that make him a sexual predator? Certainly not but come on folks. Multiple women are coming out against him and this isn’t some giant conspiracy. This is a bad man we’re talking about and I hope he never gets another job on television again.
