You know what surprises me most about the show Fear Factor? The fact that it ran on NBC. I mean I understand shows like Survivor or The Amazing Race running on major networks like ABC, CBS, and NBC, but Fear Factor does not fit this mold. It was made for Spike or MTV. Those of you who watched might remember the show aired for six seasons starting in 2001. NBC brought it and original host Joe Rogan back in 2011 for a season of challenges. While the original show featured a ton of “gross” stunts performed by contestants like eating bugs or other various gross delicacies, the reboot won’t be the same.
The new series, which premieres Tuesday, May 30 at 10 p.m. on MTV, will have segments inspired by urban legends, scary movies and everyday anxiety-inducing happenings, like plunging your cell phone in water. It’s being produced and hosted by none other than Ludacris.
“MTV is about celebrating youth culture, and with the reinvented Fear Factor, we are putting the power in our audience’s hands to face and overcome their biggest fears,” Chris McCarthy , president of MTV, VH1 and Logo, said. “We are thrilled to partner with Ludacris, one of the biggest global stars who has a rich history with MTV, to energize this franchise for a whole new generation.”
Each episode will feature eight contestants in four teams of two, like best friends, co-workers, exes, siblings, etc., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This is the channel that gave us “The Situation”, “Speidi”, & more… With “Snooki” appearing on “Celebrity Apprentice”, here’s hoping we can count on some MTV-Celebrity episodes early in the run. (Maybe “The Situation” can make the money he owes the Feds if he doesn’t get sent to jail first!)
