The latest news on Jim Carrey is that he’s trying his hand at another serious role. He’s doing a movie called True Crime. The film is “based on a New Yorker article about the homicide investigation of a slain business man and the novelist eventually convicted of the murder. ” In the press release it says the film is a crime thriller, but that synopsis could also be the plot of a fun dark comedy too. You never know with Jim Carrey in the lead. plus remember when he was that crazy crack head in that Dirty Harry movie The Dead Pool? Let me refresh your memory.
All Dead Pool jokes and any other jokes aside, it’s time for Jim Carrey to go back to his roots. Netflix has a monopoly on talented comedian Stand Up specials right now. I would 100% pay to see Jim Carrey get back to what he does best. There was a time in Carrey’s career that whenever he got in front of an audience, everyone in the room just stopped because they knew he was the king. Carrey was THE guy to watch and it wasn’t even close that he’d be the funniest one in the room. That doesn’t just go away overnight. I guarantee you that Carrey should destroy a room if he wanted to.
Carrey’s been on a serious movie and funny kids role movie hiatus for what feels like decades. Yeah he did a Dumb and Dumber sequel but he’s past that stuff. Carrey doesn’t need those movies anymore. That’s like what Adam Sandler is doing right now with Netflix. I personally think it’s an insult to his career and kind of pathetic. With all of these legendary funny guys getting old, just go back to stand up. Make tons of money there and cater towards the crowd of fathers and dudes 35 or older.
