Over the weekend I wrote an article about Mama June’s weight loss and likened her to Jared from Subway. I wasn’t trying to poke fun, rather I was making a comparison. And by no means am I saying that June is even remotely the disgusting monster that Jared is. What I’m trying to understand is why she was the choice. Why of all the obese people in the world was June chosen to be the one on television to document this life altering transition. I know she’s got the Honey Boo Boo television experience under her belt but it’s still somewhat of a mystery to me.
But I will say this as a positive for the show. It’s not just the glamorous side of June’s weight loss they’re revealing. If you actually take the time to watch an episode you’ll see that this kind of surgery isn’t all fun and games. According t0 Eonline
June did not sugarcoat how her weight loss journey was affecting her, particularly as she almost backed out of going under the knife one last time to remove extra skin from her neck and arms. “Doing all the surgeries really took a toll on me–not just physically, but emotionally,” she admitted in one clip.
“I thought that surgery would make me feel better, but it hasn’t,” she remarked in one episode after going under the knife. “My body looks like Frankenstein and I hate that I did this.”
