Stephen Colbert at Age 22 Vs. Stephen Colbert at Age 52

Is it me or does Stephen Colbert look exactly what Norman Bates would look like with longer hair and a beard?  This is a photo comparison of the Late Show host back in his early 20s, 22 to be exact, compared to him now at age 52.   Colbert, like many of us, has evolved considerably in his lifetime.   From the looks of this older picture you’d think he was an intern at Apple with Steve Jobs back in the early 80s.

But my how times have changed.  Colbert’s career evolution has been nothing but extraordinary.  What began as a small correspondent’s role with The Daily Show evolved into Colbert having his own show called “The Colbert Report.”  And when it came time for David Letterman to call it quits, the producers at CBS took a chance on Colbert who wasn’t exactly high on talk show experience or “real” interviews.

It was a rocky road for the first few years but fast forward to today, add in Donald Trump’s administration, and you’ve got a late show that’s held the top spot in the ratings for the past 8 years.   Who knows what the next 30 years holds for Colbert but you can bet at least another decade will be spent on late night television.
