I’ve made claims that Pokemon is taking over the world in past articles. I stand by that claim. When you think about it, Pokemon shares a striking timeline with none other than a pretty huge phenomenon that took over our lives: the internet. The concept of Pokemon began in around 1989, 1990. While the concept of the internet began before that, things didn’t really get cooking on the internet front until the early to mid 90s. When did Generation 1 of Pokemon come out? 1996. Is there some kind of conspiracy? Surely not and I’m not trying to insinuate that there is. I’m simply pointing out that Pokemon is growing larger every single year and invading more households by the day.
So I’ve decided to start a new segment on this site called “Pokemon is taking over the world.” This will be reserved for times when I see that Pokemon has inserted itself in pop culture for something that has very little to do with the game itself. Our first piece of evidence of Pokemon taking over the world is this sign. Sexually transmitted diseases are a pervasive issue in the world and what better a way to create awareness than have a sexy anime nurse saying “cuz you don’t wanna catch ’em all!”
