Earlier in the day I posted about a Game of Thrones season 7 poster that I happened to like. It’s a picture of Fire and Ice and reveals absolutely nothing about the show. I happen to think that when a show is as successful as GOT is, then the less you tell about any upcoming seasons the more amped up people are going to be. Any teaser, poster, trailer, should just be images containing absolutely nothing. They should just be symbols or images that remind you of the show, but nothing revealing a plot.
Game of Thrones took that concept to another level today. In what was supposed to be a season 7 premiere date reveal on Facebook live, Game of Thrones showed the image of a melting block of ice. When melted it was supposed to reveal the date of the premiere in fire, keeping up with the whole “Fire and Ice” and “Winter is Coming” themes. But alas the video gets cut off and we’re just left sitting there having watched a video of a block of ice melting.
Bravo Game of Thrones. Bravo. At this point in the game they’re just messing with us, and I think it’s brilliant. UPDATE: The Premiere is July 16th. Finally.
