Cameron Diaz has had a fantastic career that’s coming up on nearly 25 years. Although Diaz hasn’t been in anything since 2015 I suspect that she’ll be taking projects soon. At the age of 44 and still as talented as ever, she’s got plenty of years left in Hollywood. But today I’d like to go back to Cameron’s very first appearance on screen. It’s an appearance that to this day I think to myself, “That’s really Cameron Diaz?”
You might remember back in the early to mid 90s that Jim Carrey was the man in Hollywood. He was one of the first guys that was pulling in $20 million per movie. After Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber, Carrey could have done a movie about just about anything and it would have been a hit. So in 1994 Hollywood execs tried to do a comic book, almost Superhero like comedy starring Carrey called The Mask.
The movie was so so. Sure there were some funny parts but overall it wasn’t even close to the comedic body of work Carrey had put together up until that point. However, if there’s one memorable thing from The Mask, it’s the debut of Cameron Diaz. She was 22 at the time and her character Tina Carlyle will forever go down as one of the most gorgeous female leads she’s ever played.
In fact, here’s a 7 minute tribute video that’s all Diaz in The Mask. Enjoy
