Is anyone else starting to feel this incredible amount of pressure building up for the Wonder Woman film? And I don’t just mean because marketing has been increasing in anticipation of the film’s release. I just sense this “if this movie isn’t good we’re screwed” vibe. Added pressure was already put on the movie because of all the solo Batman movie drama. Now that that movie seems to be “back on” with a director at the helm, maybe the higher ups aren’t as concerned about the DCMU as they should be?
But in reality they are just so behind Marvel that the studios are dying for a hit. Gal Gadot certainly has the look to pull it off. She appears to have the action moves to pull it off. I think this all comes down to writing, directing, and execution. I’m predicting a C+ film which isn’t ideal but it’s hard to set high expectations now that Logan is so huge and well received.
One thing Wonder Woman will always have for at least the next year is cosplay potential. I feel like that potential’s been met with this impressive group cosplay by Harbeastie (Wonder Woman), Yasemin Art (Themyscira Wonder Woman), Beverly Downen (Hippolyta), Jennifer Stefishen (General Antiope) with Downen Creative Studios.
