ADR or Automated dialogue replacement is just another word for dubbing. Often times in movie action sequences or other “physical” scenes an actor will go back into the studio to perfect the sounds of a particular scene. In the case of a movie like Logan, Hugh Jackman had to essentially reenact his fighting sequences and make gruff noises as he was throwing punches or getting hit. When going back to the studio to do these scenes, Jackman displayed as much energy and effort as the scenes themselves.
Luckily for us Hugh Jackman has one of the most generous social media accounts on the internet. Jackman is never shy about sharing just about anything in his life, whether it’s a workout session, selfie with another actor, warning people about the dangers of cancer, or even just something that shows his vulnerability as a human being.
This morning Jackman gives us an inside look into an ADR session he had for Logan. To say the least, this thing is pretty intense. Remember, this is just ONE session. Imagine how much stress this role must have put on Jackman. Looks like it’s all paying off thought.
