I never thought that in the year 2017 I’d be putting Scott Baio on the title of any article having to do with the present. However, this is Scott Baio’s own fault. After Baio announced he was dropping Nordstrom due to the company dropping Ivanka Trump’s fashion line, Trevor Noah decided to poke fun at the former Charles in Charge actor.
On Monday, Daily Show host Trevor Noah used his Twitter account to respond to a story about actor Scott Baio joining the #BoycottNordstrom campaign protesting the department-store chain dropping Ivanka Trump’s fashion line, with the joke “That (expletive) for Nordstrom. Now they have to find another cashier.”
Baio, a vocal supporter of the president, hit back hard the next day. He told the South African comedian, “When you, Trevor Noah, learn what it means to be an American, then you’ll have a say. Until then enjoy our $ and shut your pie-hole!”
After that exchange the Twitter users chimed in at which point things got interesting. Baio defended himself against all remarks saying he’s been investing his money since the 70s. One twitter user said, “Let me know when you learn what it means to be relevant, Scotty.”
Look, I don’t want to rag on Scott Baio but the guy has done this to himself. And I guess I could say “congratulations?” because Baio has went from total obscurity to somehow being a headline associated with The Daily Show. Any press is good press right? I don’t think Baio will be getting any leading parts in film in the near future but perhaps he can get a job on Trump’s cabinet now that vacancies are starting to pile up.
