Now that Girls is over, the cast is moving on. Lena Dunham is already talking life after the show. Adam Driver is on the road to movie stardom. The latest star of the show, Allison Williams, is moving on with a new look. The young actress who played Marnie Michaels appears to have made a clean break from her brunette character. Williams debuted a blond look on her Instagram account with the following caption: Here it is IRL. Still getting used to it, but I dig it. Thank you @auracolorist and @rebekahforecast for helping me say goodbye to Marnie — and to @allure for the nudge!
Williams isn’t the only Girls cast member to sport a new look. Recently another Girls star, Jemima Kirke also made noticeable hair change. What does this mean? Honestly it means nothing. Here’s my prediction. Girls will be the show that these actresses are tied to and tied to forever. It will always be “the one.” Nothing will surpass it. Whatever roles they land from this point forward will not be nearly as significant as Girls. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but it’s kind of like the show Friends. Nothing will beat that show for their stars. Nothing will beat the Album “Ten” by Pearl Jam despite how prolific a band they are and how good their subsequent albums have been.
To me, Girls has that same allure. It’s a show that represented a time in space and it represented it extremely well. Shows like that don’t come around often so the bar is set pretty high for these actors to branch off and make long lasting careers for themselves.
Best of luck Allison Williams! Just don’t play Peter Pan anymore.
