When she told the execs at Bravo that she didn’t want him to be on the show, they told her that they were going to be giving her a much smaller role if Brooks was not part of the show. Vicki didn’t want to give up any of her screen time, so she decided to have Brooks on the show with her. The amount of drama that Brooks brings to the show makes it worth it for the network but not worth it for Vicki.
Vicki Was Married Twice
Anyone who has seen the show in the early seasons knows that Vicki was married to Donn Gunvalson. If you are a fan of the show, you also know that she has two children, Michael and Brianna. What you may not know is that she was married once before Donn and her children are her first husband’s and not Donn’s .According to Vicki, she was 21 years old when she got married in 1983. She says that when the marriage became abusive, she took her children and she left in 1991. According to Vicki, the marriage was not a happy one and it is not something that she likes to talk about.
She Blames Reality Television for her Divorce
Before Vicki met Brooks, she was married to Donn Gunvalson. The couple seemed to have a happy marriage when the show began. Unfortunately, things started falling apart and the couple filed for divorce. According to Vicki, her marriage would never have fallen apart if she wasn’t on television. She believes that the pressure of being on the show put a wedge in between Donn and herself, and it was the end of their marriage. She believes that he couldn’t handle the sudden fame and recognition. In the end, her 16-year marriage ended and she was forced to move on.
She Doesn’t Pay Spousal Support
After her divorce was final, there were many rumors going around the Vicki was ordered to pay spousal support to Donn. This is not true. When the divorce decree was drawn up, it stated that Vicki would be entitled to $1 million in assets along with the $2 million home that she lives in. The decree also states that if Vicki’s incomes goes up dramatically for any reason, she could be responsible for paying Donn an undisclosed amount of spousal support each month. So far, that has not happened.
Her Children Have Other Siblings
After Vicki left her first husband due to domestic abuse, her children didn’t have much of a relationship with their father. Donn stepped in and played the father role. Her ex-husband moved on eventually, and she had children with another woman. Not too long after her daughter gave birth to her second child, the news broke about Vicki’s ex-husband’s son being killed. According to reports, he was trying to take a selfie as close to the train tracks as possible and he was hit by the train. Although the family didn’t know the boy well, according to Vicki, it was still a tragic event.
Her Boyfriend Has Stage 3 Cancer
Vicki and her boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, have had a very tumultuous relationship for several years. When Vicki found out that she was suffering from stage 3 cancer, her heart broke. What made things even more difficult for Vicki was that her best friend, on and off the show, Tamara Barney, didn’t call her after the story broke. According to Vicki, regardless of her feelings about Brooks, her friend should have called her to see if Vicki was alright or to see what she can do. Tamara has not spoken out about the reason that she never called Vicki, however, there have been rumors going around that Brooks is lying about his diagnosis for sympathy.
Her Children Hate Her Boyfriend
It is well known that Vicki’s daughter doesn’t like her boyfriend Brooks, however, sources close to the family have confirmed that her son doesn’t like Brooks either. According to the source, her children believe that he is with their mother to become famous and so that she can help him get out of some financial trouble that he is in. It is going to take a lot for the kids to be willing to give Brooks a second chance.

Vicki’s daughter Briana and her husband Ryan have two children. Their names are Troy and Owen, but Vicki doesn’t want them calling her Grandma, Nana, or Memere. She has them call her Glam-Ma. According to Vicki, Briana is a great, hands-on mother. She loves spending time with her grandchildren.
Drama Ensured When Vicki’s Daughter Found Out Brooks Moved In
After dating and residing in different homes, Vicki and Brooks finally decided to move in together. Vicki thought that it would be a good time since her daughter Briana, who hates Brooks, was living in Oklahoma with her husband who is in the military. When Brooks moved into Vicki’s home, she neglected to fill Briana in on her big news. When Vicki did an interview for a magazine, she announced that she and Brooks had been living together for a year. This did not make Briana very happy. She couldn’t believe that her mother let her find out about her living arrangements while reading a magazine.
