Scorpion: Night at the Museum Gone Wrong. Toby Freaks Out about Fatherhood.

Scorpion

Team Scorpion spends a night at the history museum in this week’s episode of Scorpion. No, it’s not like the movie Night at the Museum where the exhibits come to life. Then again, it would be awesome if it was. Toby panics about his and Happy’s future child. I think he’s taking the whole “I feel your pain” thing a tad too far.

The museum hired Scorpion to help determine why a pillar from either Greek or Roman times (I need to brush up on my history) is decaying at a rapid rate. Walter said that Team Scorpion doesn’t make mistakes when it comes to handling cases such as this. Understatement of the century! Things always go wrong when least expected. So even if it’s a simple assignment of staying overnight at a museum, peace and quiet are not exactly part of the equation.

It turns out that I was right. A group of Aldorrian thieves has infiltrated the institution. They want to steal tantalum-181 from an asteroid that’s on display so they can make a powerful bomb. Walter decides to take the tantalum first before the thieves do. The genius almost succeeded, but the thief that tackled him got to it before Walter could hand the jar over to Paige.

The part where Sylvester used the falcon to send a message to Toby and Paige was smart. Guess old school methods are still useful in a world that is dependent on technology. The human calculator is terrified of birds despite the fact that he likes them. I snickered when the falcon reached Toby and Paige and gave the former a heart attack. Then again, I would do the same thing if a falcon came at me from out of nowhere.

I also applaud Paige for giving Toby the pep talk he needed to be more of a listener when it comes to dealing with pregnant Happy instead of a genius. Though the pie thing at the end was a bit unnecessary. The mechanical engineer should’ve just told him that she wants a couple of hours of quiet without him hovering over her.

There were a couple of humorous moments in this episode. Agent Gallo broke museum rules and touched the ancient axe at the weaponry exhibit. That and the part where Toby offered to help Walter keep up his fake marriage to Happy while the lady from Immigration takes a look at Walter’s case. For Quintis’s sake, I hope this works out.

The Aldorrian thieves got themselves caught by Homeland thanks to Walter’s chemical flare made from things around the museum. The Federal Government covered the damages done to the museum pieces (broken statue, clay pot and asteroid). It looks like Scorpion is off the hook from having to replace those valuable artefacts. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Toby’s middle name is Merriweather. Though this means that he and Happy are soulmates, in a way, because Merriweather means happy weather.
