This Sunday night, the most popular show on TV makes its return. Season six of The Walking Dead left viewers with one of the biggest cliffhangers of all time. I won’t go into it, because if you’re looking to catch up before the season seven premiere, then maybe you haven’t watched. But just know that everyone’s looking for answers in the season seven premiere.
That being said, how can you catch up before Sunday? Whether you’re looking to catch up on AMC or another cord cutting option, there are plenty of ways to watch. Let’s take a look at your best options.
Watch the Marathon on AMC
Ok, so it already started, but if you hurry you can still watch a huge chunk of the series before the season seven premiere on Sunday night. Basically, episodes of The Walking Dead will continue to run in order on AMC from 6 P.M. every evening until the wee hours of the morning. This lasts all the way up until the premiere.
Don’t have cable? Then there are two options for you to watch AMC without cable. In fact, both are available free for a week, so you can watch the entire marathon (and the premiere for free).
The first option is Sling TV. Starting at $20 a month, Sling TV allows you to live stream a skinny bundle of cable channels without a cable contract. Channels ranging from AMC to CNN (which is a pretty good way to watch the presidential debates as well) to ESPN. You can watch live on your computer, mobile device, or TV with a streaming player like the Roku.
Your other option is PlayStation Vue, which is pretty similar to Sling TV. The main differences are that it’s a bit more expensive, but you get more channels. Same free trial. No contract. The main perk to Vue is that it has a cloud DVR, which Sling does not. On the flip side, if you have Apple TV, Vue won’t work for you.
Watch on Netflix
Netflix is probably the easiest way to catch up on The Walking Dead. Why? Because it has all six seasons in their entirety. Now, odds are you’re already subscribing to Netflix (or you’re borrowing someone’s password), so I won’t go into the details of the service. Just know that the episodes are there.
However, if you’re looking to watch season seven, Netflix won’t be adding the episodes until a later date. So you’ll need a different solution for new episodes (unless you can be patient and wait…good luck avoiding the spoilers though).
Buy Episodes on Amazon or iTunes
Want to own the episodes? Have some weird hate for Netflix? If you answered yes to either of those questions, then you can simply purchase the episodes or complete seasons on Amazon or iTunes. Episodes typically run about $3 for HD, or you can pay $35 for a complete season. If you don’t care about HD, you can save a good deal by purchasing in SD.
These are also good options for watching the new season, as new episodes are typically offered the next day.
However you choose to catch up on The Walking Dead, you better do it quick. Sunday night will be here before you know it!
