Netflix just launched its latest Marvel series, Luke Cage, this past Friday, and the streaming giant realizes that some (if not many) fans have already finished binge-watching all 13 episodes. That’s why on Tuesday, Netflix announced the official launch date for its upcoming Marvel series, Iron Fist. Danny Rand will hit the small screen this coming March, on Saint Patrick’s Day to be exact: Friday, March 17, 2017.
Following the releases of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, Iron Fist is Netflix’s fourth official Marvel series, and it will be the final one before all four heroes come together in the highly anticipated team-up show, The Defenders. For those of you who want to know more about both this series and its main character, check out Netflix’s official description for the show below:
Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Game of Thrones‘ Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
In addition to Jones as Danny Rand, Iron Fist also stars Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing and Lewis Tan as Zhou Cheng. Plus, it’s rumored that Luke Cage‘s Misty Knight (Simone Missick) will at least be making an appearance in the new series, but we’re still waiting for confirmation on which other MCU characters (or Defenders themselves) could be popping up during the show’s first season.
As stated above, Marvel’s Iron Fist will hit Netflix on Friday, March 17, 2017. Check out the video for the date announcement below, along with the full version of the first official photo.
