The Leftovers star Carrie Coon will be leaving one great television drama and heading to another when the critically-acclaimed HBO series finishes filming its third and final season. Once her work as Nora on The Leftovers is complete, Coon will be taking on a brand new role in Fargo Season 3, joining Ewan McGregor for the highly anticipated third season of Noah Hawley’s FX anthology series.
As first reported by TVLine, Coon will play Gloria Burgle in Fargo Season 3. Gloria is described as “a practical woman who grabs the fire extinguisher when the bacon catches fire and everyone else panics. Gloria is the chief of the Eden Valley police, and a newly divorced mother, who is struggling to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people right in front of them.”
Alongside Coon’s Gloria will be the lookalike brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy, both of whom McGregor is playing. Emmit is a real estate magnate and the more attractive and confident of the two brothers, while Ray is “a flabby parole officer who believes that Emmit is somehow responsible for his sorry state of affairs.”
Coon is currently filming the third and final season of The Leftovers in Australia. Production on Fargo Season 3 is slated to begin sometime later this year. It will premiere on FX in 2017.
