Seth Rogen Explains the Idea for Sausage Party on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Sausage Party

Seth Rogen was a guest on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live special, which aired before Game 7 of the NBA Finals (in case you missed it, the Cavs won, and Lebron was deservedly given the MVP award for the series). While Kimmel and Rogen discussed many things during the interview, including basketball, one of the best parts of their conversation was when the Neighbors 2 star previewed his other big comedy that’s coming out this summer: Sausage Party.

After Rogen showed a little bit of footage (most of which was already in the Sausage Party trailer that came out months ago, but there are a few new snippets as well), he explained how this had always been something that he and the creative behind the film wanted to do. For the first time in film history, they wanted to take that Pixar-like animation and use it to create the funniest, foulest, and most R-rated film possible, and the idea of “what if our food had feelings” had always been on their mind.

“It’s probably the craziest thing we’ve ever done, and we almost started a war,” Rogen told Kimmel, referencing the problems that he and James Franco faced ahead of The Interview‘s hit theaters in 2014.

Rogen also teased certain members of the cast and which types of food they will be playing. Ed Norton plays a bagel while Salma Hayek voices a taco, and what Nick Kroll is playing will certainly surprise many people.

Sausage Party hits theaters on August 12. Check out Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with Seth Rogen below:
