While we wait for the last three episodes of season 2, here are my top five predictions for what iZombie‘s cooking up (other than brains).
There may be an all-out zombie attack. Now that Blaine has amnesia, his clients may be calling for “braaaaaaaiiiiins!”. Will there be an epic zombie-human showdown in Seattle? Showrunner Rob Thomas hinted that the season finale is “as close to a traditional zombie movie as we will or have ever done.” What will Liv’s reaction be to people blowing off zombies’ heads in self-defense? She knows they’re beyond saving… but she also knows that she could easily be on the other side of that gun.
Rita may join the good guys. Rita is not 100% evil. Sure, she was born the daughter of a super-evil man, worked as his pawn, and seduced Major… but, come on, who doesn’t want to seduce Major? Onscreen, she never proved that she was absolutely, incontrovertibly evil, and I’m convinced she has good in her. After all, when that zombie broke free, she didn’t immediately run to the elevator like her father — she instead tried to hurt it, to (possibly) save the doctor. The only question that remains is: can she escape wherever the Max Rager minion has put her?
Major and Liv may get back together. The reason Liv broke up with Major — both times — was the problem of a zombie/human relationship; now that Major’s a zombie, they can get together sans drama. Besides, Drake is “out of the picture” (read: locked in a freezer with other kidnapped zombies). Now, I don’t think some series-long relationship will happen; the show is much more interesting when they’re not together. A brief relationship, though, would create the opportunity for an even better gut-punch in these next few episodes — for example, Major losing his memory is more heartbreaking if he and Liv just began dating again.
Peyton may be the character who dies. In Season 1, we saw a lot of Peyton in episode 12 — and later that episode, she runs away after finding out Liv’s a zombie. Now, we saw a ton of her in “Pour Some Sugar, Zombie” — does that portend another Peyton departure (in a casket, this time)? She’s not an essential character; her departure wouldn’t dramatically change the nature of the show like the death of Ravi, Major, or Clive would. Even though I love Peyton, I think she’s the one who will bite the dust.
Super Max’s true motivation may be revealed. Throughout this season, Vaughn du Clark has been hyped up about Super Max (and due to Super Max — the stuff is like 10 coffees). Why is it so special? It’ll make money, sure — but there’s got to be another motive. Does du Clark want to become some villain or gain some super powers? Take over the world? There’s something brewing here — other than a questionably carcinogenic energy drink.
