Stephen Colbert was clearly not feeling 100% last night while hosting The Late Show, but as he joked himself, there’s one thing that can make him even sicker than whatever illness he has: Donald Trump. However, Colbert and his guest, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver, risked sickness to discuss Donald Trump and the need to make him Donald Drumpf again.
The Donald Drumpf movement was started by Oliver a couple of weeks ago on Last Week Tonight after he had vowed to never cover Trump on the HBO show. However, with the Republican presidential candidate gaining more and more supporters daily and with him very likely becoming the Republican presidential nominee, Oliver could no longer ignore him and laugh him off as a joke. He had to seriously look at Donald Trump’s campaign and all the problems with it.
“I didn’t care, and I didn’t think I’d have to care,” Oliver said to Colbert regarding why he didn’t start covering Trump until recently. “And it turned out I did….None of us thought we were gonna be here, but we are.”
Colbert then showed one of the hats that Oliver and his Last Week Tonight team created. The hats read “Make Donald Drumpf again,” and they’ve already sold 35,000 of them. In fact, Jay-Z even contacted HBO to see if he could get a hat for free.
“HBO said, ‘Is it okay if we send him one?'” Oliver explained to Colbert. “And we were already running out, and I did say be careful because if he puts that on his head in public, you’re going to need more hats. And if his wife puts it on in public, we are no longer a TV show, we’re a hat manufacturing company.”

However, Colbert’s interview with Oliver wasn’t the only time Donald Trump came up on The Late Show last night. The host also discussed the presidential candidate during an earlier segment, showing a clip of Trump explaining that the reason that he tweeted out a fake video claiming that a protester at one of his rallies was affiliated with ISIS was because all he knows is what’s on the Internet.
