Nashville has seen many recurring characters in recent years, and many have made their way to storylines involving the character of Gunnar. The latest cast addition Erin, played by Scout Taylor-Compton, is no exception. During a recent interview new recurring cast member Scout Taylor-Compton talked about her Nashville character Erin, what we can expect from her character in the coming episodes, and her own career.
TVOvermind: What inspires you as an actress? What motivates you?
Scout Taylor-Compton: I am inspired by all of the incredible talent I am surrounded by each and every day. The talented crew and my fellow actors inspire and motivate me to push myself further in my craft and learn about myself as an actress.
You’ve had a very long career going back to your childhood. Are there any roles that stood out for you as game-changers, or particular roles which taught you something?
In most roles I have done, my character is always learning something. But my role in Runaways was definitely life-changing for me. I got to learn to play incredible musical instruments from iconic legends. I also made such close and caring friends from that project. I felt like my whole life had such a positive flip after that role.
The one project I think changed my career was the Halloween franchise; that really put me on the map. Rob Zombie is probably one of the most important people in my life and I owe him for taking a chance on me.
On the last episode of Nashville, we got to know your character Erin a little better, and her attitude seems very laid back in regards to Gunnar. What should we expect from her coming up?
I feel Erin is just about to stir the pot with Gunnar. She finds him endearing for sure, and come on, who wouldn’t?! She needs to spice him up and show him how to live life with some adventure.
What drew you to the character of Erin? And will we get to hear some of your personal musical experience come out on the show?
The underlying feistiness of her character and how comfortable she is in her own skin drew me to Erin. As for my personal music, we can only wait and see.
You are very active on social media, especially on Twitter as @PoutyScouty. Do you find that that helps you in your career?
I appreciate everyone who supports me and to be able to share my gratitude only makes it that much better! Plus it makes me happy knowing people dig my weirdness!
What are some things you haven’t done as an actress that you would like to do in the future?
I admire the career path of Milla Jovovich and I would love to have the opportunity to be an action actress like her. The strength that she gets to portray has always intrigued me. I also am very competitive, especially when it comes to stunts on set, so I would love to do something like that.
Tune in tonight to see Taylor-Compton on the latest episode of Nashville, and follow her on Twitter at @PoutyScouty.
