The Mindy Project has many great qualities going for it. Aside from the top notch writing and incredible acting that contributes to the laugh out loud humor, consistency seems to be the key. Last night, we witnessed one of Morgan’s dreams coming true, and I couldn’t have been happier for him.
Morgan’s admiration of Danny finally paid off after three years of patiently waiting to hang out with him. To top it off, this Friday just so happened to be Morgan’s birthday and his best one yet. Awww! Maybe next year Danny will remember his birthday and throw a surprise party with everyone in the office. If anyone deserves that, it’s Morgan.
Much of Morgan and Danny’s night got sidetracked when they thought they were catching Lauren cheating on Jeremy with Peter. As it turned out, Peter’s been babysitting for her when she works late. Jeremy (adorable in his opera cape, by the way) made a low blow at Peter when he said he’s putting so much into a relationship that he gets nothing out of. Rather than being Team Peter or Team Jeremy, I think we should all agree that Lauren is the worst. She’s causing nothing but trouble. Now that Morgan actually witnessed Peter kissing her, I just want this love triangle to be over. Hopefully, she doesn’t string Peter along anymore, and he can leave on good terms with everyone. If the whole point of this silly love triangle is to make viewers sympathetic for Peter, I have to admit it’s working for me.
Of course, the New York storyline was second to Mindy’s blast from the past in San Fran. Lee Pace guest starred as Alex – or Xander, as Mindy once knew him. Her decision to simply troll her undergraduate campus to find a man to lose her virginity to at the age of 24 actually helped inspire Alex to become the billionaire he is today. For a while there, she hadn’t even told Alex about her committed relationship with Danny, and when Dr. Gurgler drew attention to the fact that she had yet to mention the love of her life, Mindy replied that she had mentioned spare ribs “like 10 times.” Oh, Mindy.
In the end, Mindy and Danny have always trusted each other. Mindy was only wary of the pregnant patients making a move on her man, whereas Danny’s true concern is for Mindy’s health. Without him around, she sees nothing wrong with eating a bag of chips for dinner. I especially cracked up when she tried to pass them off as being “krale” chips.
